The Best Roomate I Ever Had

I have had a lot of people who have been my roommates through out the years, few were more than roommates. Dan Boatwright started out as just a roommate in an unfamiliar house but quickly became one of the best friends I would ever have. Few people in life were constantly as happy as Dan was. It was almost infectious, you could not be around Dan and not be happy. Not that Dan never got upset or got down, but you knew when he did that it was something serious. Whether it was playing cards, golfing, drinking beers or just hanging out Dan was a great guy to do it with. I shared a lot of great experience with Dan, some that need never go farther than he and I. Dan was always there to lend a helping hand. One of the many things Dan did for me was helping me get a job working with him at the Ritz-Carlton. I use to love to work with Dan because no matter how crappy a day at work was for either of us I could count on Dan to crack a joke or suggest getting beers after work. Dan knew how to not let the little things affect everything else. I use to go the racetrack with Dan a lot and on occasion with his father as well. Dan never considered himself an expert gambler but no matter how much bad advice I gave, and he took, he never once blamed me for a loss. It was those times just sitting at the track that I will always remember best about Dan. He would tell stories of how he used to go when his dad trained horses. As anyone who knew Dan probably knows Dan had a flare for telling great stories. He could make you feel like you were right there. Dan will forever be missed by me and so many more. The Boat will never be forgotten!
